What is Christianity about?  Why should you believe in someone you can't see or touch?

A lot of people today cannot even fathom that there is a God.  For others, they seem to go round after round through a variety of turmoil and "bad luck" and ask pastors and Christians why this happens to them.  Still, others choose to just not believe in any form of religion.

I want to let you know that I consider myself one of God's messengers and would like to talk to you about your life.  Do you know when you will die?  Do you know if the next time you kiss or hug your spouse, child, or loved one that it will be the last time that you will see them on this earth?  Do you know if you will be the next person that is struck by a drunk driver and killed?  Know one knows if they will be alive in the next second.

When you die in this world, your spirit ends up going to one place or the other.  "For the wages of sin is death (death meaning living in hell), but the gift of God is eternal life (life meaning living in heaven) through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Most people would agree that life is precious, correct?  Wouldn't your life be even more valuable if you could live forever?  Wouldn't you like to go to a place where there is no more suffering, no pain of any kind (emotional or physical), and no more tears?  I know that I want to go to a much better place.  There are great places here on this earth that some of us would call paradise or heaven on earth.  I think of my hometown of Clearfield, PA as one of those places.  Aviano, Italy is another place I thoroughly enjoyed, but neither of these places will even compare to what Jesus has prepared for us in Heaven.

But preacher man, I'm done too much wrong in this life; I've murdered, I've raped, I've committed adultery, I've stolen, and, whatever else you can fill in here that makes you think that you are incapable of being accepted into heaven, does not matter.  "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."  Since the initial choice of Eve, and shortly afterwards Adam, to disobey God's only single command, to not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, mankind has been plagued to sin.  It's in our human nature.  We lie, we lust for both material things and people, we steal, we dishonor our parents, we spend our time away from God with other gods and idols (TV, computers, cars, work, etc), we use God's name in vain, we fail to take a full days rest, and we kill.  No one person can keep all 10 Commandments that God prescribed to Moses and his followers several thousand years ago.

Some will argue and say "well, I've been a good person so I should be permitted into heaven."  Not so!  We are ALL condemned to hell.  Have you EVER lied?  If so, you are what?  A liar.  Have you ever stolen anything?  (pens from work would even be included in this)  If so, what are you now?  A thief.  Have you ever wished you had that flashy Corvette, Viper, or Harley that the neighbor or even a co-worker has?  If so, you are called a coveter.  Have you ever looked at a man or woman lustfully?  (meaning you were thinking, "Hey girl/guy, you are very fine")  You are an adulterer, per Jesus' teaching in Matthew 5:27-28.

We are all judged by God and are condemned to hell.  Plain and simple!

BUT...Because of all of this, God sent His Son.  A truly pure man that was born from a woman that was a virgin.  He remained innocent and pure, though He was tempted many, many times throughout His 33 years on this earth, so that His blood was pure when He was sacrificed for all of the world's sins.  He died, so that we may live.

You'd take your life, if it meant sparing your child's life right?  You'd shield your friend from a thug or enemy soldier with your own body to spare their life, right?  Jesus Christ shed His holy blood for you and for me so that we could live forever in Heaven.  He shielded us from hell.

If you had a vision that your own friend or child were to die tomorrow, whether from a stray bullet, a car accident, a fire, health problems, or whatever, wouldn't you do everything in your power today to protect them?  That's what God did for us.  God was so merciful that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Jesus Christ will be saved from eternal death.  (This being a paraphrase from John 3:16.)

Are you thinking to yourself..."he's full of bologna."  That's ok.  But, the truth lies within the Words of God in the Bible.  Are you thinking..."I have a long time before I die."  You may be right.  You may live to be 90 years old.  But let me ask this, do you drive your car without insurance because you think that it will be 10 years before someone sideswipes your car?  Being a Christian is FAR better than any insurance in the world.  It's an assurance that we will be brought into an awesome relationship and an eternal life.

"Preacher man, you've made some good points here and I'd like to know more."  Awesome!  Please e-mail me at wb@justified.clearfield-county.com, or I recommend visiting a good Bible believing church such as the Christian & Missionary Alliance or a Southern Baptist Convention church.  There are others that are of noble Christianity, however, these are the two that I have been and continue to be a part of and agree with their beliefs.
"You've convinced me that I am truly in need of having a future.  How can I be a part of God's family?"  That's easy, it really is so very easy.  Simply pray a prayer to Jesus that you realize that you are a sinner.  That you believe that He died so that you could be forgiven.  Ask Him to forgive you of your sins and to help you walk in a new life for our Heavenly Father.  If you have prayed a prayer like this, e-mail me and let me know.  I'd love to pray with and for you and your new life.  Please contact me at wb@justified.clearfield-county.com.
